Hystory of the Symposium
This meeting is organized by the International Committee of the International Coccidology Symposium (ICS) and cover all aspects of scale insect studies, including systematics and morphology, genetics and evolution, zoogeography and fauna, biology and population dynamics, natural enemies, monitoring and pest management.
The first International Coccidology Symposium, previously known as the International Symposium on Scale Insect Studies (ISSIS) until 2019, first met in 1972 in Canberra, Australia, during the 15th International Congress of Entomology (ICE) as an informal round-table discussion with 20 scientists from nine countries. It originally started at the suggestion of Prof. Michael Kosztarab and has now met fifteen times at about 3 (2‒4) years intervals in different parts of the world as follows:
